Laying hold of God’s Promises
Focus Scriptures:
2 Peter 1:2-4 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Eph.1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
2 Cor.1:20 – For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Through salvation, God, by His divine power, has given us ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness. The Lord has already provided us everything we need to live and everything we need to be godly. His promises for life are exceedingly great and precious. Through these promises, we become partakers of the Lord’s divine nature.
Two things define God’s promises:
- They are exceedingly, great.
- They are Mega!
- They are of great and exceptional value.
There are thousands of promises in God’s Word, and It is to our benefit to identify His promises applicable to us and make every effort to lay hold of them.
Some keys to laying hold of God’s promises:
- Be totally convinced that His Word is true and applicable to your life today. God’s integrity and character is what makes us trust Him to do what He has promised.
- Be expectant. The expectation of the righteous will not be cut off, and because we judge Him faithful who has promised, we can confidently walk in the expected fulfillment of His promises in our lives.
- Live a righteous life It is an anomaly to live a corrupted lifestyle and expect God’s promises at work in your life. Yes, God is sovereign, and He can do whatever He wants whenever He wants. However, He has given us clear guidelines in His Word concerning the same.
- Be persistent in prayer – Persistent prayer is the key to opening the heavens over your life. Do not look at life’s circumstances lest you be discouraged from praying; instead, look to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith.
These and many other principles of living life in Christ will bring forth the manifestation of God’s promises in our lives. He is not a man to lie or change His mind His promises are Yes and in Him Amen!
Keep the faith. The best is yet to come!
